Now, of course, you can work that out all for yourself. You can find out what all kinds of food contain and make sure you eat the right amount of calories a day. Keep in mind that if you eat too few calories, your metabolism will slow down and weight loss will become more and more difficult as you go. So, please heed my warning, I know, I’ve been there!

Okay, so now you want to know exactly how to eat to lose weight. Here is an example of an eating plan that will work. You will not lose the weight very fast, but it will be healthy and permanent.

  • Eat only five small portions of starch a day including your starchy vegetables. Eat only whole grain bread and pasta.
  • Eat at least five big portions of veggies a day, remember to limit the veggies you know contain a lot of calories such as peas and sweet potatoes, and count them as a starch portion.
  • Eat three small portions of low fat protein a day. Concentrate on fish and chicken. Remember that legumes contain a lot of carbs and can be either a protein or a carb.
  • Eat only three very small portions of fruit a day
  • Limit fat to no more that two small portions a day
  • Eat two portions of fat free or low fat dairy a day

When you know how to eat to lose weight, you can speed up the process by doing some moderate exercise. This will help you burn a few extra calories. A little weight training will also be good as it builds lean muscle which speeds up your metabolism. This of course helps you lose weight faster.

Now if you are thinking this sounds very complicated you are probably right. You will have to plan every meal of every day yourself. That will take a lot of work. This is why it is a good idea to get hold of a good diet, where everything is worked out for you and all you need to do is make sure the food is available and then follow the plan.
