So, danger #3 of fad diet plans is that you lose muscle.
You may be wondering why losing muscle is considered dangerous, well; the very first reason is that it weakens your skeleton. Your skeleton is no longer in proper alignment. This can lead to injuries. You will also become very weak and your general health will simply not be what it should be. So, this is a very serious danger of Fad Diet Plans.
Now I know the second reason is more important to all of us trying to maintain a healthy weight. When you lose muscle, your metabolism slows down making it more and more difficult to lose weight AND to maintain the correct weight.
You may be wondering why this is the case. Well, it is because muscle uses more energy than fat, even when you are sleeping. This, of course, makes muscle the slimmer’s best friend. So, this makes Fad Diet Plans your biggest enemy.
It is true that when you first start building muscle your weight may stay the same for a while as you replace fat with muscle and because muscle weighs more than fat, but it will be lean muscle weight and you will notice that your clothes are fitting better. You will be losing inches even though, for a while, you are not losing pounds.
Once this process has been completed the weight loss will come unless you are on your goal weight already. Do, not let this part of the process make you despondent and trick you into falling for Fad Diet Plans.
Remember, in the long run it is how you look that really matters, you can way only a few pounds and be flabby and you will not look as good as when you weight a little more but you are firm and in good shape, physically. It is how you look and feel that is important, not really how much you weigh!
So, for your health and your appearance’s sake, do not be tempted by the false promises of Fad Diet Plans.
